Bring your whole family to the annual BMC Thanks and Giving Celebration!
“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed” – Maya Angelou
Fun for the Family
Join us to celebrate what we are thankful for while giving back to the local community. Families can rock out to beloved local performer, Andy Z, enjoy snacks and beverages and participate in fun arts and crafts. Our charitable beneficiaries will be in attendance to share information, collect in-kind donations* and host themed craft activities. Kids can also write a thank you note to a parent, sibling, relative, friend, teacher or anyone who has made a difference in their lives and mail it to them.
A Time for Giving
Please bring any of the following to donate to our sponsored organizations:
Like new or new toys, books, or games
Sponsored Organizations (who will be in attendance at the event):
Fresh Approach has been on a mission to make healthy food more accessible in the
San Francisco Bay Area since 2008. Their programs expand nutrition, cooking, and gardening skills (they even have an East Palo Alto based Community Garden where you can volunteer); and increase access to local, affordable produce. They believe healthy food is a human right. Join them in their mission to make healthy food accessible in all communities!
Help a Mother Out works to improve baby and family well-being by increasing access to diapers for families in need. They distribute diapers to families in need through a network of social service partners including voluntary home visiting programs, facilitated parent support groups, family resource centers, and public health departments. A family’s access to a reliable supply of clean diapers reduces the risk of infectious disease outbreaks, improves baby’s health and comfort, and enables baby’s participation in early care and education programs. Join them in their mission to ensure every baby has a healthy supply of diapers!
Our customary giving tree will be decorated by handmade ornaments from children at Family Connections, an organization supporting the Peninsula since 1993.They provide educational services to low-income families including tuition-free parent participation preschool, parent education and links to community services as well as support to children and their parents throughout K-12. Each ornament placed on the tree represents a dream holiday gift for a child. It will be our opportunity to make that dream come true!
Teaching the Art of Giving Back:
To promote the concept of giving for young children, we encourage you to help your child select a very gently used (like new) or new toy or book from their own collection to donate to another child in need through a local social services agency.
